According to a major MLB insider, the Chicago White Sox were so eager to move Luis Robert Jr. before the trade deadline that they “begged” the Philadelphia Phillies to make a deal. Despite the push, the Phillies didn’t bite.
Once considered a future superstar, the former All-Star outfielder has struggled over the past two seasons, largely due to injuries. His production has dipped significantly from what fans saw in his breakout 2023 campaign, making him a tough sell despite his past promise.
Kyle Schwarber Open to Playing for Hometown Reds
Kyle Schwarber, one of the best free-agent pickups in Phillies history, is entering a contract year and his latest remarks may give Philly’s front office something to think about.
Speaking to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Scott Lauber during All-Star week, Schwarber said it would be “awesome” to play for his childhood team, the Cincinnati Reds. Since signing with Philadelphia in 2022 on a four-year, $79 million deal, Schwarber has hit 161 home runs and emerged as a clubhouse leader. But with free agency approaching, his interest in returning home adds uncertainty to his future in Philly.
