Findlay-Curtis-1

Findlay Curtis could be set for a return to Rangers’ starting XI in their upcoming Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos, following an injury setback within the squad.

Rangers carry a 2-0 lead into the second leg of the second qualifying round, thanks to goals from new signing Djeidi Gassama and Curtis in the first leg. However, manager Russell Martin is facing a selection dilemma after two players missed training sessions ahead of the match.

Hamza Igamane, who featured off the bench in the first leg, has been absent from training at Auchenhowie and is expected to miss the return fixture. Thelo Aasgaard is also unlikely to play, with Sky Sports’ Gordon Duncan casting doubt on both players’ availability.

Curtis, who has already made six senior appearances with one goal and one assist to his name, could be rewarded with another start. His early contributions have impressed, and with other absences such as Ross McCausland, who may be on his way to Aris Curtis might be called upon again.

With a two goal cushion, Martin has some flexibility in his team selection. Although recruitment is still ongoing, the squad boasts several young players eager to prove themselves, and some may get that opportunity in this crucial European fixture.
