The Boston Celtics’ stance on Charles Bassey’s future appears clear if recent reports are accurate he’s likely heading overseas. Bassey, who stood out during Summer League play, impressed many with his performance in Las Vegas, averaging 15.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks while shooting an impressive 70.4% from the field over three games. Given his NBA experience, his dominance came as little surprise.

Now a free agent, Bassey has reportedly drawn significant interest from Europe. While Virtus Bologna is said to be among the suitors (via Sportando), Eurohoops reports that KK Partizan of Serbia has emerged as the front-runner. His agent, Mark McNeil, told Meridian Sport that Bassey is honored by Partizan’s interest and is seriously considering their offer. While other European clubs have reached out, Partizan remains the priority.

Although the Celtics would likely welcome the chance to continue working with Bassey, it seems his next move will be abroad most likely to Belgrade with Partizan.

Aaron Scott Makes Strong Impression in Summer League Finale

In the Celtics’ Summer League finale, Aaron Scott made a statement with his relentless energy and hustle. The 6-foot-7 wing didn’t light up the scoreboard but made a huge impact, especially on the offensive glass. Scott pulled down six offensive rebounds in the first half alone against the Atlanta Hawks and finished the game with nine total boards, seven of them offensive, along with three points, three assists, one steal, and one block.

Scott credited Rick Pitino, his college coach at St. John’s, for helping him refine his natural motor and rebounding instincts. “I’ve always played this way,” Scott said. “But Coach Pitino really elevated that part of my game.”

Matt Reynolds, who coached the Celtics’ Summer League squad, praised Scott’s effort and presence, saying the forward gave the team a boost during a quiet stretch and showcased exactly the type of player he was known to be at St. John’s.

While Scott isn’t expected to fill the open 15th roster spot vacated by JD Davison, he’s a strong candidate to join Boston’s G League affiliate in Maine. There, he’ll have a chance to continue developing his 3-and-D potential and possibly earn a future NBA opportunity through his effort and energy.
