For the Dallas Cowboys to return to playoff form, their offensive line must take a major step forward. In 2024, that unit underwhelmed partly due to the introduction of two new starters, Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe, and the extended absence of veteran Zack Martin due to injury.

Despite investing heavily in the offensive line spending three first-round picks in the last four drafts and locking down Terence Steele with a long-term deal the results haven’t matched the resources. According to Zoltan Buday of Pro Football Focus, the Cowboys’ offensive line ranks just 23rd in the league heading into 2025.

“Once a strength, Dallas’ O-line now has serious question marks,” Buday noted. “Rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton earned only a 49.4 PFF grade last season, ranking 73rd at his position. The team is also relying on two more young players center Cooper Beebe and rookie Tyler Booker, who’s expected to replace Martin.”

Development and Coaching Offer Hope But No Guarantees

Dallas is banking on growth from its young offensive line, and coaching changes are part of that bet. New offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, known for his work with linemen, and former Kansas State coach Conor Riley are tasked with turning things around.

There are bright spots Tyler Smith continues to play at an All-Pro level, and his versatility might provide cover if Guyton struggles. Beebe also showed real improvement in the latter part of 2024 and could be poised for a breakout in his second year.

Baltimore Ravens v Dallas Cowboys

Still, there’s no ignoring the risks. With multiple starters lacking NFL experience, growing pains seem inevitable.

The Cowboys have put too many assets into their offensive line for it to be mediocre. But if this unit finishes near the bottom of the league again like its current No. 23 ranking suggests Dallas may once again find itself on the outside looking in come playoff time.
