Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly making solid progress in their pursuit of Rennes centre-back Christopher Wooh, per Africa Foot.
Following a turnaround under head coach Vitor Pereira during the 2024/25 season, Wolves’ hierarchy is expected to back him in the transfer market this summer. The club had a rough start to the Premier League campaign under Gary O’Neil but found stability once Pereira took charge, ultimately pulling clear of relegation danger.
With Matheus Cunha having joined Manchester United, Wolves are facing a crucial summer window. They’ve already added Fer Lopez and finalized Jorgen Strand Larsen’s previously temporary deal.
Wolves Lead Race for Wooh Despite Interest
According to Africa Foot, Wolves are progressing well in negotiations to sign 23-year-old Wooh, though they face competition from Stuttgart and Trabzonspor. However, the Cameroonian international reportedly has no interest in moving to Turkey, which could give the Midlands side an edge.
Wooh has been a consistent performer for Rennes this season, making 20 Ligue 1 appearances and ranking among the squad’s top defenders in clearances, tackles, and aerial duels. Still developing, the highly rated centre-back described as “incredible” could fit seamlessly into Pereira’s preferred back-three setup.
GIVEMESPORT previously confirmed Wolves’ interest in Wooh, and it now appears that talks are advancing as the club works to secure his signature ahead of the new season.
