TRANSFER NEWS: Free Agent Midfielder with 90 G/A in the Championship Agreed to Sign for Wrexham this Summer

Wrexham have secured their second signing of the summer with the acquisition of Danny Ward, and a third arrival could soon follow.

Following his release from Leicester City, Wrexham have snapped up the experienced goalkeeper Danny Ward on a free transfer. The Wrexham native and former Liverpool man reunites with his hometown club as they prepare for their return to the Championship after a 40-year absence. He joins Ryan Hardie as the latest addition to Phil Parkinson’s squad.

With the transfer window in full swing, Wrexham are expected to remain active in July, having already been linked with several targets across different positions. Strengthening the midfield appears to be a key priority.

While links to Christian Eriksen have since cooled and Tom Cairney looks set to remain at Fulham despite interest, Wrexham’s focus has turned to another notable name — Tom Lawrence.

The 31-year-old, born in Wrexham, has reportedly expressed interest in returning to his hometown club. A free agent following his departure from Rangers, Lawrence boasts a prolific Championship record — 50 goals and 40 assists across 264 appearances, most notably during a five-year spell at Derby County where he tallied 37 goals and 25 assists in 185 matches.

According to the Daily Mail, Lawrence has attracted attention from clubs in Turkey and the Middle East, but a move to Wrexham is said to be an appealing option for the former Wales international.

In addition to Lawrence, Wrexham are actively pursuing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien. The 25-year-old has been a long-standing target this summer, though competition from Championship clubs has made the chase challenging. However, with Hull City now reportedly out of the running, Wrexham are preparing a £5 million bid — potentially a club record — to secure O’Brien’s signature.

Rangers playmaker Tom Lawrence celebrates against PSV Eindhoven.

Should Wrexham manage to land both Lawrence and O’Brien, Parkinson would significantly bolster his midfield ahead of the club’s highly anticipated Championship campaign.
