BREAKING: Phil Parkinson Breaks silence on ‘Forgotten’ Wrexham star’s Exit, it could have a Major impact on Transfers

Wrexham are continuing to reduce the size of their squad heading into the new campaign.

Phil Parkinson warned of Wrexham departures and that is well and truly in full swing as Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard were released at the end of their contracts.

Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the season but Parkinson has left the door open for a return to the club if the striker has rekindle his goal scoring form.

The Wrexham manager has also been discussing the exit of one of the ‘forgotten’ members of his squad after completing a move to Shrewsbury Town.

Phil Parkinson breaks silence over Will Boyle’s Wrexham exit

Speaking to the Leader, the Red Dragons boss has opened up on the departure of central defender Will Boyle and how it could have an impact on potential transfers coming into the Racecourse Ground.

Shrewsbury Town signed Boyle after the 29-year-old failed to make a single league appearance this season and Parkinson was keen for him to get back to playing football.

Parkinson stated: “Boyley is another player who had a disrupted season through injury. He didn’t contribute as much as he would have liked but he has been a great lad to have around and we wish him all the best at his new club.”

As Wrexham face Southampton in their Championship season opener, all eyes are now on recruitment and Boyle’s exit could have an impact on those plans.

Parkinson explained: “We have sensible conversations with these players and it was inevitable that players were going to move on this summer.

“We have got to make the numbers add up, if we are going to bring players in, we have got to make room with players going out.”

Wrexham’s defender targets to replace Will Boyle

Parkinson still has a number of defensive options at the club with the likes of Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt joined by the experienced duo of Eoghan O’Connell and Dan Scarr.

However, the club want a Premier League defender with vast experience to enter their ranks and Wrexham have offered a contract to Craig Dawson.

Michael Keane wants to stay in the Premier League but his stance may change the longer it goes without him finding a solution and Wrexham are keen.

Harry Darling joined Norwich in a transfer blow but it is clear that the Red Dragons are vying for further solidity at the back.
