Wrexham Fans will love Paul Mullin’s Classy Message after Wigan Athletic loan Deal Confirmed

Paul Mullin’s Classy Message to Wrexham Fans After Sealing Wigan Athletic Loan

Wrexham icon Paul Mullin has bid a heartfelt farewell at least temporarily to the club he helped lift through the English football pyramid, sending a touching message to fans following confirmation of his loan move to Wigan Athletic for the 2025/26 League One season.

Despite playing a central role in Wrexham’s meteoric rise from the National League to the Championship, Mullin won’t be part of their latest campaign. The 30-year-old striker, who has netted an astonishing 105 goals in 165 appearances since his 2021 free transfer from Cambridge United, fell down the pecking order after a tough season that saw him struggle with injuries and form.

Injuries limited him to just three League One goals last term, with manager Phil Parkinson opting for fresh options up front as the club surged toward promotion. Now, with Ryan Hardie arriving from Plymouth as Wrexham’s new attacking addition, Mullin has dropped a division to join Ryan Lowe’s Wigan Athletic, eager for regular game time.

Following the announcement, Mullin showed his class and deep affection for Wrexham with a simple yet powerful message on social media platform X:

“All the best this season! Keep the train rolling. ❤️” – @PMullin7

This gesture has been warmly received by Wrexham supporters, many of whom still consider him a club legend. After all, Mullin’s goal-scoring heroics were instrumental in ending Wrexham’s long exile from the EFL and transforming the club’s trajectory under Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

In his first interview as a Wigan player, Mullin expressed excitement for what lies ahead:

“I’m excited for the next part of my story. The gaffer has outlined his plan for the season, and I’m hoping to take his trust into the season and make it a really successful one.”

Though last season was underwhelming by his high standards, Mullin’s career numbers speak volumes. He also reiterated his commitment to giving everything on the pitch:

“I give absolutely everything and work as hard as I can. I’ve scored a lot of goals over the last few years, but more than anything, I give my absolute all for the club that I’m playing for, and I’m going to do that again with Wigan.”

Mullin’s loan could be the fresh start he needs—and if his track record is any indication, Wigan may have landed one of the most determined and impactful strikers outside the top flight.

The big question now is: will he return to Wrexham stronger next summer, ready for another chapter with the club that made him a superstar? Time will tell.
