The Boston Celtics might not be finished making big roster moves this offseason. After dealing Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks, reports suggest another All-Star could be on the move soon.

While Holiday was a 2023 All-Star, his performance declined in 2024, and with $104 million owed to him over the next three years, the Celtics were eager to shed his salary to avoid exceeding the second tax apron. However, Holiday might not be the only high-profile player Boston is looking to offload Kristaps Porzingis is also being actively shopped.

Porzingis carries a hefty contract as well and, like Holiday, has struggled with availability. With both players considered the top trade candidates this summer, the Celtics are fielding offers for Porzingis and could move him in the coming days.

Although acquiring Simons was a strong return, his lack of defensive prowess compared to Holiday has left Boston with a smaller, less defensively-minded backcourt. If they move Porzingis, they’ll need to bring in a defensive-minded center to help anchor the team’s interior.

Despite the shake-ups, Boston still hopes to contend for a championship, even if Jayson Tatum is sidelined next season. With Tyrese Haliburton now out due to an Achilles tear and several Eastern Conference rivals dealing with injuries, the East appears wide open. If the Celtics can land good value in a Porzingis trade, they could remain a top contender, especially with Jaylen Brown capable of leading the offense.
