Russell Martin Shares Exciting Transfer Plans Ahead of Champions League Clash Dessers and Souttar Updates Included

Rangers boss Russell Martin has revealed he expects new signings to arrive before their crucial Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos next month. The Ibrox side will host the Greek club on July 22 before the return leg in Athens a week later, and Martin is eager to have fresh talent in the door by then.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Martin said the club is working hard behind the scenes to bring in the right players those who not only improve performance on the pitch but also fit the culture of the club. “We’re looking at exciting options,” he said. “I’m confident we’ll have a few in before the European game.”

On the current squad, Martin confirmed that striker Cyriel Dessers is expected back for the start of pre-season despite rumors linking him with AEK Athens. “I’m expecting him on Monday. I’m looking forward to working with him,” Martin stated.

He also gave a positive update on defender John Souttar, who delayed surgery to represent Scotland in their recent friendlies. After a minor procedure, the centre-back is expected to be fit and available for the vital tie against Panathinaikos. Martin praised Souttar’s commitment to his country and confirmed the injury has not disrupted Rangers’ preparations.
