Breaking: Paul Mullin’s Wrexham Departure Confirmed Star Striker’s Next Club Revealed

Paul Mullin’s Wrexham Exit Confirmed as Loan Move to Wigan Nears What’s Next for the Dragons?

After months of uncertainty, Paul Mullin’s departure from Wrexham is now official, according to talkSPORT. The club’s all-time modern-day hero is set to join Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2025/26 season, bringing an emotional end to a historic chapter at the Racecourse Ground.

Mullin’s contributions to Wrexham are nothing short of legendary 105 goals in 165 appearances and a key role in three promotions have earned him icon status among fans. But despite his heroics, Mullin found himself out of favour last season. After January, he featured just once and was left out of every matchday squad, including the final day of the season. Many supporters were left puzzled, as even Mullin himself admitted he didn’t understand why manager Phil Parkinson lost faith in him.

Speculation had been swirling since the season ended, with strong links pointing to Wigan Athletic. Now, it seems the move is close to being finalized. While Mullin is under contract until 2026, Wrexham are reportedly open to letting him leave  potentially even on a free transfer.

The move makes sense for Mullin personally, as he’s eager to stay in the north-west. If he rediscovers his goal-scoring form, Wigan will gain a proven striker, and Mullin will have a chance to revive his career in League One.

What’s Next for Wrexham?

With Mullin’s future all but decided, Phil Parkinson can turn his full focus to strengthening the squad. The club recently brought in Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle but hasn’t announced any more arrivals just yet.

There’s talk of more signings on the horizon, and Parkinson has hinted at activity behind the scenes. One key position in need of reinforcements is centre back, especially after Harry Darling  a top Wrexham target opted to join Norwich City instead.

Fans can expect more transfer movement in the coming days, and while things may seem quiet, don’t be surprised if the Dragons pull off another surprise signing  just like they did with Hardie.

Mullin’s exit may mark the end of an era, but the next chapter at Wrexham is already being written.
