Red Sox Stay Tight-Lipped on Roman Anthony’s MLB Debut Timeline
As the MLB season takes shape, teams are beginning to understand their trajectory, and that’s sharpening focus on trade deadline strategies. With the deadline approaching in under two months, front offices are already evaluating potential moves.
Red Sox Remain Vague on Roman Anthony’s MLB Debut
Boston fans are growing impatient as top prospect Roman Anthony remains in the minors. When asked if the outfielder would join the big-league roster this week, Red Sox manager Alex Cora dodged the question, stating only that his attention is on the current 26-man roster. The lack of clarity adds to the frustration for a fanbase watching a 31–35 team in need of a boost. Anthony has excelled at Triple-A, and with Boston beginning a six-game homestand on Monday, the timing seems ideal for a debut yet nothing is confirmed.
Cubs Expected to Be Major Players at the Deadline
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Cubs are among the teams likely to be very aggressive at the trade deadline, joining the Phillies, Mariners, and Padres. Chicago is reportedly looking to add both a top-tier starting pitcher and bullpen help. Their offense ranks among MLB’s best, but with injuries to key arms like Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga, bolstering the rotation and bullpen is a must if they hope to contend deep into October.
Braves May Move Ozuna, Even If They Compete
The Braves, currently underperforming and sitting 10 games below .500, are facing a crossroads. While they aren’t expected to fully embrace selling at the deadline, Marcell Ozuna could be a rare exception. Nightengale reports that Atlanta might trade Ozuna regardless of their position in the standings, as he’s in the final year of his contract. Despite being a key offensive contributor, the 34-year-old DH doesn’t appear to factor into Atlanta’s long-term plans. If a strong offer comes in, the Braves may choose to move him especially with few other tradable assets on the roster due to long-term commitments.
