After a disappointing 2024 season, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to bounce back in 2025 with a healthier, retooled roster. A big part of that effort centers on quarterback Dak Prescott, who is returning from a serious hamstring injury that ended his season in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Prescott’s absence was one of several significant injuries that derailed the Cowboys’ campaign last year. Now fully recovered, he’s been labeled a top “bounce-back candidate” for the upcoming season, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).

PFF’s list of bounce-back players for each NFL team placed Prescott at the top for Dallas. The evaluation emphasized his improved health and upgraded offensive weapons as key reasons for optimism.

“A rebound season from Dak Prescott could be the key to the Cowboys making it back to the playoffs in 2025,” wrote PFF analyst Dalton Wasserman. “After achieving a career-best 90.0 grade and nearly winning MVP in 2023, Prescott dropped to a career-low 67.2 passing grade last year.” Wasserman also pointed to the Cowboys’ lack of offensive depth and Prescott’s spike in turnover-worthy plays (4.7%) as contributors to his downturn.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott warms up before the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With new offensive additions like wide receiver George Pickens and offensive lineman Tyler Booker, Prescott is set up for a stronger season. If he returns to form, he could help lead Dallas back to the postseason.

Prescott’s 2024 struggles were among the worst of his career, but with Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles on the horizon, Cowboys fans are hoping he’ll look like his old self from the very start.
