Although Devin Booker has made it clear he wants to stay in Phoenix, and the Suns have expressed the same desire, rival teams are likely to challenge that commitment especially after the team’s recent struggles and roster complications.

The fallout from the Kevin Durant situation, following a lackluster trade deadline, has left Phoenix at a crossroads. Complicating matters further is Bradley Beal’s hefty contract still carrying $110 million and a no-trade clause limiting the Suns’ flexibility.

If the team opts to rebuild, the Dallas Mavericks could be a compelling trade partner. After shocking the league by trading Luka Dončić to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, Dallas secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, with phenom Cooper Flagg expected to go first.

If Mavericks GM Nico Harrison chooses to align with the win-now timelines of Kyrie Irving and Davis, he might be open to moving the top pick. That could pave the way for a blockbuster deal with Phoenix.

Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World suggested a scenario where the Suns send Booker and Ryan Dunn to Dallas in exchange for the No. 1 pick, Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, and Daniel Gafford. This would allow Phoenix to build around a young star like Flagg and potentially offload Beal’s contract in a broader rebuilding effort.

While trading Booker—a loyal franchise cornerstone would be tough, the opportunity to start fresh with top-tier young talent could make such a move worthwhile, especially if Phoenix is ready to reset its future direction.
