Return Nears as Crucial Series Approaches
Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize is nearing a return from a mild hamstring strain, and the timing could prove pivotal. The 27-year-old right-hander recently completed a successful five-inning simulated game on Monday, signaling he’s almost ready to come off the injured list.
Eligible to return this Saturday, Mize is expected to be available just in time for a key weekend series against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians. So far in 2025, he’s posted an impressive 6–1 record with a 2.53 ERA, providing much-needed stability to a rotation currently missing Reese Olson.

Manager AJ Hinch shared optimism after Mize’s sim game, telling the Detroit News, “Everything checked out great,” and suggesting a positive outlook for his return. If all goes according to plan, Mize could be back on the mound in a high-stakes matchup that could influence the AL Central standings.
