Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood will serve as the Grand Marshal for the final day of the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. Wood will take part in pre-race festivities ahead of the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix on Sunday, June 1, marking the conclusion of the three-day racing event in downtown Detroit.
As Grand Marshal, Wood will be involved in key race-day events including the official command, “Drivers, to your cars,” and will participate in driver introductions and a tour of the paddock. His selection continues a tradition of Detroit Lions figures contributing to the Grand Prix, following previous Grand Marshals like Penei Sewell, Dan Campbell, and Ndamukong Suh.
Grand Prix President Michael Montri praised Wood as a leader who reflects Detroit’s strong sports culture and community involvement. Wood expressed gratitude for the honor, highlighting the event’s celebration of Detroit’s automotive heritage and fan enthusiasm.
Since becoming Lions President in 2015, Wood has led the team through a highly successful run, including back-to-back NFC North titles and a 15-2 record last season. His leadership and ties to the city make him a fitting figure for one of Detroit’s premier sports events.
