After the Baltimore Orioles dismissed manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday, general manager Mike Elias remained silent until Tuesday — a delay that drew sharp criticism from ESPN’s Buster Olney.

Appearing on Glenn Clark Radio, Olney said other teams were stunned by Elias’ lack of immediate public response.

“Mike’s handling of the last 4 days… has other teams shocked that he hasn’t made himself available to the media,” Olney noted. “I don’t know how you create any accountability if the guy at the top of the food chain isn’t addressing it.”

Olney emphasized the importance of timely communication during an in-season firing, as players and staff were left to face media questions without input from the executive who made the call.
