In the third inning of the Red Sox’s 2–0 win over the Mets on Tuesday, both Boston manager Alex Cora and starting pitcher Walker Buehler were ejected after a heated dispute with the home plate umpire over a missed call.

Cora, frustrated by Buehler’s ejection, passionately defended his pitcher  even smashing the bullpen phone in the dugout earning himself the 18th ejection of his managerial career.

When asked postgame about the incident, Cora lightened the mood with a witty response:
“I thought yesterday was a good day for us without me, so I decided to do it again,” he joked.

Cora wasn't happy about this one.

The comment referred to Monday’s game, which Cora missed while attending his daughter’s Boston College graduation. The Sox won that game too, making them 2–0 in their last two games with minimal involvement from their skipper.

After the win, Boston improved to an even 25–25 record on the season. They’ll finish the series against New York on Wednesday evening at Fenway Park.
