After being released by the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason, veteran edge rusher Von Miller may be eyeing a return to where his NFL journey began the Denver Broncos.
Miller, 36, has struggled to return to form since tearing his ACL in 2022. His role with the Bills significantly diminished over the past two seasons, and Buffalo ultimately cut ties with him in a move to save cap space. While Miller hasn’t officially announced his next move, a former teammate believes his career should come full circle.
Former Broncos tight end Julius Thomas, speaking on Up and Adams, said he hopes Miller returns to Denver to wrap up his career. Thomas acknowledged that while Miller may not be the same dominant force he once was, he still has value.
“Can Von still get to the quarterback a few times a game? Absolutely,” Thomas said. “Does he need to be on the field for 60 snaps? Maybe not. But he still has something to offer.”
The Broncos, a playoff team last season, could benefit from Miller’s veteran presence and pass-rushing experience.
Miller himself has expressed interest in going back to Denver. Shortly after being released by the Bills, he also appeared on Up and Adams and hinted at a possible reunion.
“I’ve always had a love for blue and orange,” Miller said. “This is a fun and uncertain time in my career, so we’ll see what happens. I’ve done all I can in the game, and whatever comes next is exciting.”
Although the Bills released Miller, they haven’t ruled out bringing him back—if the financials make sense. General manager Brandon Beane noted that the team has a history of re-signing trusted veterans when needed, as seen this offseason with the return of cornerbacks Tre’Davious White and Dane Jackson.
Even if Miller doesn’t rejoin the Bills right away, a return later in the season could be on the table, especially if injuries arise. The team has used that approach before, such as in 2022 when they brought wide receiver Cole Beasley out of retirement late in the year.
For now, the future of Von Miller’s NFL career remains uncertain—but a return to Denver seems increasingly possible.
